During a seminar on “Present status and future plan for magnetic Materials and device industries”, held on 10^th & 11^th August 1973 at the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad, the learned participants, under the initiative of Late. Dr. R. V. Tamahankar, deliberated upon establishing a “National Forum” exclusively for Magnetics. A decision was then reached to form a technical society meant for professionals, academicians, researchers, manufacturers and users in the field of Magnetics. After formulating the rules & regulations, the “Magnetics Society of India” as a registered professional body came into existence on the 3^rd November 1973 at Hyderabad with its office located in the premise of DMRL, Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad-500 058.
